Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Deep purple color. Frank nose of ripe fruit, roasted fruit, spicy notes of liquorice and green pepper. On the palate, a full-bodied, winey attack, full, atypical character of jammy fruit, overripe fruit then fresher notes of pepper with ripe, frank tannins, with a warm finish. Beautiful persistence!

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

The barrel cellar, specially designed for malolactic fermentation, contains 500 barrels all year round. The oak, chosen with care, comes from the best French forests: Tronçais, Fontainebleau.

Domain and appellation

  • ISABELLE ET PIERRE CLÉMENT

In the hands of the Clément family for 15 generations, the Domaine de Châtenoy is distinguished by its ancestral know-how.

Terroir: The 60 hectare estate sits on clay-limestone soils with sauvignon and pinot noir as the main grape varieties.

Viticulture: With its motto "No good wine without good grapes" maximum care is given to the vines. The average age of the vines is 20 to 40 years with a density of 8000 plants per hectare. The manual harvests are transferred into tanks by gravity.

Vinification: Gentle neumatic pressing precedes a cold stabalisation and a fermentation in thermo-regulated tanks.
