Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

The nose, marked by vegetal notes of candied pepper, opens up to more complex aromas of noble animal and fur.

The attack is supple and round, supported by silky tannins and a beautifully balanced structure.

The palate is warm and harmonious, expressing nuances of truffle and cocoa.

The finish, of medium length, seduces with its subtle and elegant character.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • CHÂTEAU CHEVROL BEL AIR

Château Chevrol Bel Air, located in Néac, covers 30 hectares of land spread across three appellations: Lalande de Pomerol, Montagne Saint-Emilion, and Bordeaux Supérieur.

The 20-hectare vineyard in Lalande de Pomerol is planted on siliceous-clay soils with a subsoil of slag and gravel. The vineyard is mainly planted with Cabernet Franc and Merlot, with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.

In terms of viticulture, the vines are on average 40 years old. The harvest is carried out on extremely ripe fruit, with selective sorting in the vineyard.

Fermentation and maceration take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel or cement vats for three weeks.

The wines are then aged in stainless steel vats, combined with oak barrels, in order to preserve the fruity aromas and subtle oak notes, and allow for measured oxygenation of the wine.
