Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Dark brick colour with garnet tints, nose that opens with a bouquet of roasted fruits, candied fruits, notes of pepper, juniper with a hint of animal and good balance, frank, full-bodied with nice character that evolves on spices, aromatic bouquet, notes of burnt caramel, good frank length on tannins that melt.

Robe
Brick Red

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Domaine Berthoumieu

Domaine Berthoumieu is located in the heart of the homeland of the famous Musketeers of Louis XIV. Here in the fiefdom of d'Artagnan alias "Charles de Batz", the Barré family produces the red wine MADIRAN and the white wine PACHERENC du VIC BIHL.

    •     Terroir: The vineyard is located on stony clay and clay-silt-gravel soils.

    •     Viticulture: Viticulture is carried out in a reasoned and qualitative manner.

    •     Vinification: The wines are matured with passion and care before bottling in the underground barrel cellar "Burgundy style".
