Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

The Bordeaux Cabernet Franc is said to be called "Breton" in memory of Abbé Breton, intendant of Cardinal de Richelieu, who introduced it to the region.

Domain and appellation

  • Famille Bougrier

Since 1885, for six generations, the Bougrier family has been working towards the recognition of Loire Valley Wines and is recognised today as one of the last family Houses covering the whole of the Loire Valley, from Nantes to Sancerre. This wine is made from a single grape variety: Cabernet franc known as "Breton".

    •     Terroir: The vines, located in the Vienne Valley, are planted in sand and gravel soils. These soils give fruity and light wines. Made up of clay and limestone, they create deep wines, suitable for long ageing.
    •     Vinification: The wine is kept under marc for 10 to 20 days. In vats or barrels, the wine goes through the stage of malolactic fermentation. This chemical transformation allows a decrease in acidity.
