Our oenologists' opinion
Fruity and crisp
Light yellow colour with white gold sheen. Straightforward nose, with exotic fruits and citrus fruits and white flowers. Supple attack of tension and balance. Hint of sweetness. Frank character on citrus fruit. Clear and acidic finish.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Do you know ?
Ideal as an aperitif for its freshness and liveliness or on a well-made reblochon; it will also be sublime on a fillet of Fera.
Domain and appellation
Domaine Charles Gonnet
A 13-hectare estate in Chignin taken over in 2018 by the Domaine du Château de la Violette. Today, this estate produces Chignin, Chignin Bergeron, Savoyard dogfish, Rosé and Mondeuse on a very local market in the mountains and some for export to the USA. The reputation of Chignin dates back to the 11th century, as evidenced by the presence of the ruins of seven medieval towers. Today this vineyard is the third largest in Savoie and is still growing. The AOC was created in 1973
