Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

The nose opens with notes of candied blackcurrant, toasted spices and cinnamon, with a floral touch of peony.

The attack is full-bodied and fleshy, with a beautiful texture.

The silky tannins accompany a balanced and generous palate.

The lingering finish prolongs the wine with aromas of candied pepper.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • BARTON & GUESTIER

L’Hirondelle is the name of a steamship that enabled the export of Barton & Guestier wines in the early 19th century.

This vessel was part of the first steamship company on the Garonne River, co-founded by Daniel Guestier, and later known as the Compagnie des Bateaux du Bas de la Rivière.

As early as 1725, the first barrels branded by Thomas Barton were already leaving the port of Bordeaux.

Today, that pioneering spirit remains alive, and our drive for innovation is as strong as ever.

True to this rich heritage, we present a collection of AOC wines embodying the Barton & Guestier craftsmanship.
