Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

The open, bouquet-filled and distinctive nose expresses itself elegantly with aromas of red fruit gratin, cocoa beans and liquorice sticks, with a hint of young leather adding a touch of complexity.

The velvety attack reveals a fleshy texture, supported by long, rich tannins, controlled tension and a finesse that structures the whole.

The beautiful balance between power and freshness gives the wine a racy character.

The satiny, persistent and distinctive finish unfolds beautiful notes of candied peppers and garrigue, with a hint of sapid bitterness and an elegant nuance of tobacco leaf.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • A historic estate with Mediterranean soul

Located in Montagnac, near Pézenas, this estate stands on the site of an ancient Roman villa and once served as a welcoming stop along the Way of Saint James.

At its heart lies a beautiful Tuscan-style bastide, surrounded by 37 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, and fields of wheat.

Since 2006, Sophie and Xavier Palatsi have lovingly restored the estate, bringing together heritage, passion, and a modern touch in every bottle.
