Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

The nose is marked by aromas of roasted plum and spices, with a hint of liquorice.

The attack is supple, offering both body and balance.

The finish is clean and full-bodied, with a distinct character dominated by crème de cassis.

The wine lingers well, leaving a pleasant sensation on the palate.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • MAISON LORGERIL

The estate lies on a remarkable geological transition zone, where a dark schist slope from Faugères meets a white limestone slope from Saint-Chinian.

This diversity of soils, combined with a wide range of grape varieties, the steep terrain, and optimal sun exposure, enables Château de Ciffre to fully express the identity of its AOP terroirs.

The vineyard is composed of a single contiguous block, located on the southern slopes of the Pic de la Coquillade (690 m), and planted with Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Carignan.
