Our oenologists' opinion
Fruity and well-rounded
Its carmine color introduces a fresh nose of red fruits and currants. The palate is balanced, big, bold and nervous with character. The finish is nice and coated. Crispy.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation
Jean de Rochebrune par Nicolas
Second largest wine growing region of France, The AOC Côtes du Rhône is the generic appellation for this wide region which encompasses multiple sub-appellations.
- Terroir: Spread across 42,000 hectares of vines and 171 different cities, the Côtes du Rhône AOC wines come mostly from the meridional Rhône and benefit from a hot, dry and sunny mediterranean climate. The vines lay on sandstone, clay-limestone and pebbles soils.
- Viticulture: Grenache, syrah and mourvèdre are the dominant grape varieties.
- Vinification: The wines must be comprised of a minimum of 40% of grenache. The non-dominant grape varieties must not exceed 30% of the total blend. Those wines result from the collaboration between the maison Nicolas and local wine cellars, which are selected for their abilities to enhance their surrounding terroirs.
