Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

With its garnet color, this wine offers you an open nose on bell pepper and blackcurrant bud. On the palate, it presents a flexible attack and a good balance. Beautiful finish on round and ripe tannins. Nice and pretty wine !

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

Bergerac wines used to be sold as Bordeaux wines prior to the selection of Gironde as the only department that could use the Bordeaux appellation.

Domain and appellation

  • Château Theulet

This classic property of Bergerac offers all the range of wines of the sector, solid red wines, soft, dry and fragrant whites, and when the vintage allows liquoreux.

    • Terroir: The Bergerac appellation is located in the south of the Dordogne department. The lacustrine limestone of the southeastern bedrock gives a brown soil with limestone pebbles.

    • Viticulture: The grapes must be harvested ripe. This stage is detected by the winegrower by tasting the grapes and measuring the sugar level. The grapes are mainly harvested mechanically.

    • Vinification: Pre-fermentation maceration for 5 days followed by temperature-controlled fermentation. The aging takes place in vats.
  • Grapes Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Grapes
    • Merlot : 95%
