Domain and appellation
Château La Negly
Located in the heart of the Clape Massif, this 18th-century chateau once bore the name of Ancely. In 1781, the property took the name of Nerly, finally being called Negly in 1807. La Falaise is the cuvee that has contributed to the chateau’s reputation.
- Terroir: The La Negly chateau owns the 50-hectare vineyard that lies on sandy-clay-limestone soils.
- Viticulture: Harvesting is done manually. In the vineyard, sustainable agriculture is promoted.
- Vinification: The syrah is vinified in wooden vats and the grenache in concrete tanks. Vatting lasts from 45 to 60 days with daily pigeage (stomping). The wine is then matured for 12 months in wooden vats for the grenache and barrels for the syrah.
