Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Garnet colour with purple highlights. Frank nose with peppery, spicy, candied black fruits. Supple attack of the envelope, full, good balance. Typical frank character on candied blackcurrant, violet, notes of garrigue, fresh spices. Good persistence.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

The Côtes du Rhône Villages appellation initially referred to 14 communes in the Gard, Vaucluse and Drôme regions, whose names can still be seen on the bottle labels today. Today, more than 70 communes benefit from this appellation.

Domain and appellation

  • DOMAINE DE LA BERTHETE

    A family property since 1993, Domaine de la Berthète is located in the southern Côtes du Rhône appellation, at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, in the Plan de Dieu plain.

        Terroir: This estate of more than 48 hectares lies on clay-limestone soils.
        Viticulture: The grapes are mainly harvested by hand.
        Vinification: Maceration takes place between 10 and 12 days with temperature control.
