Our oenologists' opinion

Its red brick color offers aromas of red fruits. As for the taste, it is balanced, frank and all-round with a good coating. Its tannins are coated in satin.

Brick Red

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Imported by the Greeks, the region’s vines were developed by the Benedictine monks of the Abbey of Saint-Mont in the 11th century.

Domain and appellation

  • Plaimont Producteur

The wineries of Plaisance, Aignan and Saint Mont regrouped their expertise, inheritances, land and initials to form the cooperative Plaimont in 1979. The wineries of Crouseilles and Condom joined the group 20 years later.

    • Terroir: Producer Plaimont now covers 98% of the Saint Mont. Resting on 5300 hectares between Gascony, Béarn, Pyrenees and Gers, the vineyards have small grape varieties such as courbu, Mansengs, tannat, Pinenc, Arrufiac, Colombard and Cabernet Sauvignon. Established by the Greeks, these vineyards were developed by Benedictine monks of the Abbey of Saint-Mont in the eleventh century.

    • Viticulture: Their viticulture follows a strict contract between the wine grower, the technician and the terroir. The reds are harvested exclusively by hand.

    • Vinification: Macerations are long and the exctractions are extremely gentle. The wines are aged in oak barrels of French origin, rigorously selected by cellar masters. The casks are particularly compatible with the famous grape of the region: the tannat.
