Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

A real trip to the South of France is waiting for your taste buds with this dark purple wine. Its opened nose releases fragrances of blackcurrant, black fruits, fresh spices and garrigue that will recall you its region of origin, the Languedoc Roussillon. In mouth, the supple attack unveils a great balance and an enveloping side. Its aromas are concentrated.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Gérard Bertrand

Gérard Bertrand, emblematic wine-maker of the Corbières, contributes to the influence and the standing of the vineyard of the South of France, the biggest wine-making area in the world. Around the most beautiful terroir of Languedoc Roussillon, the Gérard Bertrand wines are a mix between tradition and innovation. The Catalan land have numerous treasures to discover such as its landscape, its mountains and its architectural heritage.

    • Viticulture: Harvests are done manually, at the perfect ripeness.

    • Wine-making: The Syrah and the Carignan are subjected to a carbonic maceration. Thus, the entire bunches are put in tanks. The Grenache is destemmed and vinified in a traditional way. The control of the alcoholic fermentation is made with regulated temperatures. Therefore, the extraction of tannins’ aromas is very precise. The malolactic fermentation and the aging are made in stainless steel tanks during a about 10 months to preserve the freshness and the fruity taste of the grape varieties.
