Our oenologists' opinion

Well-rounded

With its brick color, this wine gives us a nose with notes of kernels fruits and then grilled wood. On the palate, it is balanced, with a character on the cherry, the core and then the notes of smoked. Final rather short on fat tannins.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

Grapes are fully (without being de-stemmed or crushed) thrown into hermetic tanks that are saturated with carbon-dioxide. This “carbonic” method helps to obtain wines that can be appreciated early on.

Domain and appellation

  • Les jamelles

Since 1991, Les Jamelles has been a unique collection of artisanal grape wines from the Pays d'Oc.

    • Terroir: These vines have an average age of 10 years. They are cut in "Cordon de Royat"  and "Guyot". The yield is relatively low. It is of the order of 50 hectoliters per hectare. The soils are clay-limestone on the terraces, close to the original soils of this grape variety.

    • Vinification: Cold pre-fermentation maceration of about a week and fermentation of one week at controlled temperatures. 25% of the final cuvée is aged in oak barrels for 6 to 9 months.
