Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Its straw color with green highlights offers a pretty finely wooded nose of hazelnut, vanilla and dried apricot. On the palate, this wine is balanced, full-bodied and strong with character and a tight finish on a mineral touch.

Straw with green tints

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Domain and appellation

  • Maison Lorgeril

Located close to Carcassonne and built by the Languedoc State Treasurer, Bernard de Pennautier, the Château de Pennautier is today classified as an historic monument.

    • Terroir: Spread across 146 hectares, the vineyard is perched high at 200/400 meters of altitude on sunny side hills and limestone-clay soils.

    • Viticulture: Selective harvest in the early hours of the day.

    • Vinification: A cold settling precedes an alcoholic fermentation of 3 weeks, followed by malolactic fermentation in barrels with regular stirring. The wine is then aged for 10 months in French oak barrels (50%) and tanks (50%) with regular stirring.
