Our oenologists' opinion

Well-rounded

The nose is open and expressive, revealing lovely vanilla and toasted wood notes accompanied by hints of yellow fruit in syrup and a delicate floral touch, signalling the start of a harmonious bouquet.

The attack is round and full, offering a beautiful balance supported by a slight tension.

The ample and enveloping palate expresses woody and vanilla notes, bringing richness and volume.

The finish, round and indulgent, lingers on aromas of vanilla and frangipane, with medium persistence and a subtle hint of saltiness.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Domain and appellation

  • At the end of a path that runs alongside the Martinollet stream and winds its way through scrubland, vineyards and olive groves lies Château Martinolles, modestly savouring the impressive heritage of its region.

The Abbey of St Hilaire adjoins the estate, where the principle of sparkling wine production was discovered in 1531.

The mark left by the Cathars, persecuted by the Catholic Church in medieval times, has shaped both minds and landscapes.

Finally, the region's rugged terrain and harsh climate give rise to superb terroirs that produce beautiful Chardonnay, Mauzac and Pinot Noir grapes.

Our vintages reflect this heritage, with wines that have character and remain faithful to their terroir and origins.
