Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Straw colour with green glints. Straightforward nose with hints of mango and exotic fruits. Opens with aromas of white flowers, jasmine and acacia. Supple attack, fat, enveloping. Straightforward lengthening on notes of acacia honey and candied citrus fruit. Character over bitterness. Clear, typical, medium persistence.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Domain and appellation

  • Founded in 1932, La Cave de Pomérols has continued to grow, prosper and modernise over the years. This cooperative of nearly 350 members stretches between the garrigue and the Etang de Thau, on sunny terraces called Costières, hence the name "Costières de Pomérols".

Terroir: The wine comes from vines planted on a clay-limestone soil, a few kilometres from the Etang de Thau.

Vinification: A pellicular maceration of a few hours precedes alcoholic fermentation in thermo-regulated vats. The wine is then matured in vats on fine lees with stirring.
