Our oenologists' opinion
Well-rounded
The nose is straightforward, initially marked by a smoky note, then opening up to a coulis of black fruits, hints of spices and fresh peony.
The attack is supple, carried by roundness and beautiful balance.
The palate lingers frankly on ripe blackcurrant and herbs.
The finish is peppery, with beautiful persistence.

Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Domain and appellation
-
FAMILLE ROUX
Our Morgon appellation terroir is defined by decomposed rock soils and friable schist.
All parcels are farmed under organic viticulture, with the soils worked by plough rather than weeded, a practice adopted several years ago. The harvest is entirely manual. Our Morgon undergoes a traditional Beaujolais vinification, using 70% whole clusters and 30% destemmed grapes, with two pump-overs per day and punch-downs at the end of maceration, resulting in a structured and expressive wine.
