Our oenologists' opinion
Its dark brick color offers a finely woody bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full, round and fat, on notes of dried fruit. Finish on blended and satin tannins.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Domain and appellation
Château Chadenne is one of the oldest properties in Fronsac. It belonged to the Max Linder family until the middle of last century. Philippe and Véronique JEAN acquired it in 1999. They bring daily attentive care to the vineyard and cellar
- Terroir: The vineyard, with an area of 9 hectares, dominates the Dordogne with a south-southwest exposure, and rests on clay-limestone soils.
- Viticulture: In the vineyards are practiced double Guyot pruning, controlled grassing, leaf removal and green harvesting. The grapes are harvested by hand in small crates and then sorted in the cellar.
- Vinification: Fermentation in vats wood and vats stainless steel thermo-regulated with a vatting of 4 weeks. The harvest is entirely past in barrels for aging for 18 months in air-conditioned cellars.
