Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Golden yellow colour, intense golden reflection, limpid and brilliant. Open nose with hints of aniseed sweets, lime blossom honey and candied apricots, mineral hints. Round, greedy, sweet attack. Good balance sugar/acidity, small character on honey and white flowers. Sapid finish, notes of ripe yellow peaches and nutmeg.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Do you know ?

In the best years, some Alsace or Alsace Grands Crus can be completed by the mention "Vendange Tardive". The richness of these mellow wines is perfectly natural.

Domain and appellation

Made 100% from the Spiegel Grand Cru, our Pinot Gris Vendange Tardive, produced on our slopes (between 260 and 315 metres high) comes from an east-facing marl-sandstone terroir. A follow-up work is carried out from the winter pruning of the vines until the harvest.
Hand-picked on our terraces, the carefully sorted grapes are then transported in crates to our cellars where they are slowly pressed. After settling for 48 hours, the perfectly clear juice is fermented in century-old tuns where the temperature is strictly controlled.
Fermentation lasts from 1 to 3 months until spring. The wine is then stabilised, filtered and bottled the following spring. They are then stored for several years before being bottled and shipped all over the world.
