Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and light

Dark ruby colour. Frank and fresh nose, fruity with aromas of lilac, violets and then pepper. Good balance, frank with finesse, small envelope with ripe tannins. Beautiful greedy lengthening.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Located in Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg, the Cave de Saumur now presents itself under the identity of its two founders "Robert and Marcel". This cooperative winery with an avant-garde image is one of the only ones in France to have a common set of specifications imposing environmentally friendly winegrowing practices on 100% of its winegrowers.

Terroir: Owned by 300 winegrowers, the vineyards cover over 1800 hectares.

Viticulture: All members of the cooperative have received the AgriConfiance label.

Vinification: Fermentation in vats lasts between 1 and 4 weeks and precedes fermentation in oak barrels or vats.
