Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Dark garnet colour with bright red highlights. Open, fruity nose with hints of strawberry jam and menthol. Fleshy, sapid attack, small envelope. Fleshy, greedy finish, with strawberry coulis and a hint of milk chocolate.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

The property has belonged to the descendants of Jean Loron since the 18th century. Old account books contain the names of the high society of the time (Marquis de Turgot, Minister of Finance of Louis XVI or the Count of Choiseul).

Domain and appellation

  • DOMAINE DES BILLARDS

    SOIL: 8ha of vines on the south-east mid-slope of the Saint-Amour vineyard, at Les Billards, Le Carjot and Vers L'Eglise. The soils are very varied: scree from ancient rocks, clay at Clos des Billards, bluestone at Carjot and granite at Vers L'Eglise. VINIFICATION & BREEDING: Our commitment and humility in the face of nature require us to adapt each year to the harvest and not to lock ourselves into a predefined pattern. As we cannot summarise in 2 lines a whole process that has been adjusted over the days, we prefer to enlighten you on this cuvée via the terroir and the grape variety.
