Our oenologists' opinion
Fruity and light
Dark garnet colour with coppery reflections, fairly limpid, brilliant. Open nose with notes of bitter almonds, candied cherries and vanilla with a hint of amaretto. Sweet, greedy attack. Sugar largely dominates the alcohol, character on the nose notes (amaretto and cherry syrup). Gourmet finish, with caramel and candied cherry.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Do you know ?
This liqueur takes its name from the guigne, one of the species of cherry used in its preparation.
Domain and appellation
Served fresh, it offers an intense smell of cherry. It can be drunk pure or served in a cocktail that it sublimates in a nicely vintage spirit. Its label is even an authentic part of history; it includes in particular the decoration of Nicham Iftikar, decerned by the Bay of Tunisa which appreciated the natural qualities of the product.
