Do you know ?

French Vins de Pays have carried the European PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) label since 1999. This label is regulated in France by the National Institute of Origin and Quality.

Domain and appellation

  • Cave de Tain

Founded in 1933 by Louis Gambert de Loche, the Cave de Tain benefits from the expertise of 300 winegrowers spread over more than 1,000 hectares of vines to produce wines in the Hermitage, Crozes Hermitage, Saint Joseph, Cornas and Saint Péray appellations as well as vins de pays.

    •     Terroir: The Marsanne grape variety grows on the cooler slopes of the left bank of the Rhône on sandy soils.
    •     Viticulture: The yields of these plots are limited in order to guarantee optimum ripeness of the grapes.
    •     Vinification: Vinification is carried out at low temperatures in stainless steel vats. The wine is then aged on fine lees with stirring for 4 months.
