Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

The nose is open and straightforward, dominated by aromas of black fruits, laurel, spices and eucalyptus.

The attack is supple and fleshy, providing tension and volume, with a profile that is perfectly in line with previous vintages.

The finish is spicy and fleshy, with a garrigue character, a touch of warmth and a hint of black pepper, giving a wine that is typical, powerful and full-bodied.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • CHÂTEAU DU BOIS DE LA GARDE

Situated between Avignon and Orange, Château du Bois de la Garde belongs to Vignobles Mousset-Barrot. Specialising in Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the company produces only AOC, vins de pays and appellations Villages.

    - Terroir : The house, which looks like a Provençal bastide, reigns over a continuous 60-hectare estate. The south-west-facing vineyards are planted on rolled pebble soil, which stores heat during the day and releases it at night.

    - Viticulture: The estate emphasises the meticulous attention paid to the vines throughout the year. The vineyard work is precise and carried out according to the Mistral wind. The majority of the grapes are harvested by hand, and the vines are pruned into goblets.

    - Vinification: In the cellar, the wine ferments and macerates for 15 days in temperature-controlled vats before maturing in concrete vats.
