Our oenologists' opinion
Powerful bouquet
Deep brick colour, nose still rather austere and closed, opening up to aromas of blackcurrant, boxwood, toasted wood, slightly burnt, good balance on a full-bodied wine, quite robust, frank, the character comes through with aromas of pepper, boxwood, burnt caramel, rather tight tannins, ripe, enveloped, still a little young, beautiful long and taut finish.

Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Château Haut Bages Liberal
Owned by the Libéral family since the beginning of the 18th century, this 5th Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac was bought by the Cruse family in 1960.
Terroir: The 30 hectare vineyard is located around the property and adjacent to Château Latour as well as on the Bages plateau, south of Pauillac. The parcels of the property are located on two sets of soils: one composed of deep gravel and the other of clay and limestone.
Viticulture: The grapes are harvested by hand. The vines are less than 15 years old.
Vinification: Traditional Bordeaux vinification in thermo-regulated concrete and stainless steel vats for 18 to 24 days. The wine is then aged in oak barrels (40% new) for 16 months. -
