Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

The nose is clean and typical of Pinot, marked by aromas of kirsch, fresh blackcurrant and morello cherry, then opens up with spicy notes.

The attack is supple, with a long, enveloping finish.

The palate asserts a frank and distinctive character, with well-integrated woody and toasted aromas.

The finish is frank and expressive.

The persistence is sustained, prolonged by notes of undergrowth.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • DOMAINE DAVID DUBAND

Founded in 1965, the estate is based in Chevannes. It gradually expanded onto outstanding plots in Nuits-Saint-Georges, before extending to other Village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru appellations such as Vosne-Romanée, Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Échezeaux and Charmes-Chambertin.

The vineyard now covers 27 hectares. When David joined the estate in 1991, he quickly set a new direction by ending grape sales to the Beaune cooperative, choosing instead full control over production.

He steered the wines towards greater precision and finesse, eliminated the use of herbicides, and adopted organic viticulture by the late 1990s.
