Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

The nose is frank and expressive, opening with notes of spices, liquorice and mocha.

The attack is supple, carried by a beautiful envelope and harmonious balance.

The palate, rich and frank, develops roasted spices and black fruits, supported by round and silky tannins.

The finish, long and liquorice-like, offers beautiful persistence and a clear aromatic signature.

  • Keeping level Ready to drink
  • Service temperature 16°

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • PLAIMONT

Château de Sabazan is located in the medieval village of the same name, in the canton of Aignan, in the Saint Mont Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée. 150 inhabitants live their lives from the vines between the 13th-century Romanesque church and the Château, rebuilt in the 15th century from 13th-century stone. Plaimont vinified the wines from the Château de Sabazan vineyard for the first time in 1987. Five young winegrowers were given responsibility for the wine, with the aim of maintaining the social and human fabric of this village, which was condemned to desertification.
