Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Dark garnet colour with brick tints. Bouquet of menthol, lilac and morello cherry, with a hint of chocolate and leather. Supple, satiny attack, with well-crafted tannins and a beautiful envelope. Character with notes of fur, old lightning and a touch of smoke. Full-bodied, velvety finish, with long and fat tannins, medium persistence.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • CHÂTEAU CHEVROL BEL AIR

Located in Néac, Château Chevrol Bel Air offers a 30 hectare terroir spread over three appellations: Lalande de Pomerol, Montagne Saint-Emilion and Bordeaux Supérieur. Terroir: The 20 hectare vineyard bearing the Lalande de Pomerol appellation rests on silico-clay soils with a subsoil of chalk and gravel. The majority of the vines are Cabernet Franc and Merlot with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and Côt. Viticulture: The vines are on average 40 years old. The grapes are harvested when they are extremely ripe, with selective sorting in the vineyard. Fermentation and maceration are carried out in stainless steel or thermo-regulated cement vats for a period of three weeks. The wines are then matured in stainless steel vats combined with oak barrels in order to preserve the fruity aromas and a discreet woodiness as well as a controlled oxygenation of the wine.Located in Néac, Château Chevrol Bel Air offers a 30 hectare terroir spread over three appellations: Lalande de Pomerol, Montagne Saint-Emilion and Bordeaux Supérieur.
