Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Bright mahogany colour, open nose with iodine and salt notes, then cherries in brandy, morello cherries, liquorice, good balance on a full-bodied whisky, roundness despite the degree, nice character with very liquorice notes, stewed yellow fruits, salted butter notes, everything is well blended with a nice long and straight finish.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Talisker

Located not far away from the village of Carbost, on the shore of Loch Harport, Talisker is one of the most prestigious and isolated distilleries existence.
In 1825, Hugh and Kenneth Mac Askill decided to move to the Skye Island. They rented a place in Carbost and established the distillery of Talisker in 1830.

    • Port Ruighe allies the coastal temper of Talisker and the smooth notes of red fruits brought by the Porto tanks.
