Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and crisp

Deep partridge-eye colour, fine bubbles. Straightforward nose with notes of stale bread, gingerbread, hint of chocolate. Balanced, nervous, bubbles present but without bite. Character with a hint of blackcurrant, pits then cumin spices, saffron. Straight and frank finish.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Do you know ?

The term "Négociant- Manipulant" is indicated on the label of Bellefon Besserat, noting that the grapes are purchased, in part or in whole, to be fermented with those of the domain.

Domain and appellation

  • Besserat de Bellefon

Founded in 1843 at Aÿ by Edmond Besserat, the Besserat Bellefon House is now part of the Lanson-BCC Group (Boizel Chanoine Champagne). The Cuvée des Moines is available in 5 varieties of champagnes called "gourmet", designed to accompany a whole meal.

    • Viticulture: The House of Besserat Bellefon has a vineyard of 25 hectares, mainly located in the Marne Valley and uses a group BCC of winemakers network to procure grapes.

    • Vinification: Like the House Lanson, champagne of Besserat House Bellefon does not undergo malolactic fermentation. In addition, the use of short-run liquor dose allows for creating bubbles 30% thinner and on the creamier side. Finally, bottled, the wine will rest slowly on the lees for 3 years, providing a more pronounced maturity.
