Our oenologists' opinion
Its black garnet color offers an open nose with notes of red berry fruit, leather, black pepper and nutmeg. On the palate, this wine presents a velvety, supple attack, a lovely character on roasted wood, and round, fat tannins. Finale savor, rich and elegant.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation
Classified a Second Grand Cru, Château Rauzan-Ségla is located on the Margaux AOC in Gironde. Ségla is created from the property’s young vines. The chateau has belonged to the Wertheimer family since 1994, owner of the prestigious brand, Chanel.
- Terroir: The 66 hectare vineyard lies on a terroir with fine, deep gravel.
- Viticulture: The vines are pruned “à la bordelaise », or double pruned. From removing the buds to stripping leaves, the give is given particular care. Green harvesting is practised on the vine. Harvesting is done manually.
- Vinification: The vinification and maturation conditions are identical to its big brother, the Château Rauzan-Ségla. A 10-day fermentation is followed by maceration at 28° C for a maximum of 3 weeks, in thermos-regulated stainless steel vats. The wine then matures in barrels for 15 months (20% new).
