Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Straw-coloured with a golden sheen. Frank nose, on candied citrus fruits, almonds, frangipane. Opens with floral, buttery and brioche aromas. Full-bodied attack, full-bodied, enveloping. Frank extension of the tension, good balance. Frank character on the buttered aromas, good persistence.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Domain and appellation

  • CAVE DE TAIN

Founded in 1933 by Louis Gambert de Loche, the Cave de Tain benefits from the expertise of nearly 300 winegrowers spread over about 1000 hectares of vines to produce Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Cornas and Saint-Péray appellations as well as local wines. Terroir : Alluvial terraces with loess veneers. Vinification: Hand-picked. Gentle pressing of the grapes as soon as they arrive in the cellar. Selection of juices in order to express the best of the grapes. Protection against oxidation as soon as the first juices run off. Cold settling for 24 to 48 hours. Alcoholic fermentation in vats at 18-20°C and for a part in barrels with a tapping during fermentation. Malolactic fermentation in wood for 90% of the volume. Maturing: Partly in stainless steel tanks and the rest in 400L barrels (new, of 1 and 2 wines 25% each) on fine lees for 8 months. Regular stirring of the lees.
