Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

The straightforward nose reveals intense notes of cherry jam and blackberry syrup, enriched by toasty nuances of roasted spices, black pepper and a hint of mocha, adding depth and complexity.

The full, fleshy attack reveals a full-bodied wine with good volume and controlled balance.

Its powerful character is based on roasted spices, with a hint of hardness due to tannins that are still young, but which will mature well.

The full-bodied finish continues this intensity, with an assertive structure and good persistence, auguring good ageing potential.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • CHÂTEAU TOUR PRIGNAC

Acquired by the Castel family in 1973, Château Tour Prignac is a former 17th-century fortified house, distinguished by its two towers and dovecote. Its name pays tribute to these towers, which adorn the estate located in the commune of Prignac-en-Médoc.

It boasts the largest single-plot vineyard in the Médoc and is the northernmost property of Châteaux & Domaines Castel.

Staying true to its terroir, Cabernet Sauvignon, the emblematic grape variety of Northern Médoc, has been preserved against the trend towards all-Merlot blends.

This Cru Bourgeois, renowned for its exceptional value for money, is distributed worldwide.
