Our oenologists' opinion

Well-rounded

The nose is straightforward, marked by spices, with a hint of austerity and notes of undergrowth.

The palate offers a straightforward and distinctive finish, but tightens slightly on the finish with a slight bitterness.

The persistence is dominated by evolved aromas.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Patriarche Père et Fils, based in Beaune in the former 17th-century Visitation Convent, with its 5 kilometres of vaulted cellars and 2 million bottles ageing, guarantees wine produced with passion.

Domain and appellation

  • PATRIARCHE PÈRE ET FILS

The village of Santenay is made up of several hamlets and settlements, set within the heart of Burgundy’s vineyard landscape.

From the heights of the Mont de Sène and the Montagne des Trois Croix, sweeping views stretch across the countryside, reflecting human presence dating back to prehistoric times.

The château, closely associated with the legacy of the Dukes of Burgundy, along with the historic Moulin Sorine, form an essential part of the village’s heritage.

The Santenay Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée was officially established in 1937, recognising the distinctive quality and character of its wines.
