Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Light yellow with green highlights. Frankly floral, jasmine nose. Opens with citrus fruit and almonds. Supple attack, well-balanced and full-bodied. Clean, long-lasting character with notes of bergamot and orange blossom. Fresh almond notes. Well-balanced. Good saline persistence.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Domain and appellation

  • Cave de Tain

Founded in 1933 by Louis Gambert de Loche, the Cave de Tain benefits from the expertise of nearly 300 winegrowers spread over around 1,000 hectares of vines to produce Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Cornas and Saint-Péray appellation wines as well as vins de pays. Terroir : Granite bedrock covered with silt, loess and limestone debris. Vinification: Selection of old vines planted on the finest terraces in the appellation. The grapes are harvested by hand in palloxes the day before pressing and kept cold for 24 hours. Gentle pressing of the grapes on arrival at the winery. Protection against oxidation as soon as the first juices run off. Cold settling for 24 hours. Beginning of alcoholic fermentation in vats at 18-20°C before racking during fermentation. Ageing: In new 400-litre barrels (12%), 3-wine barrels (26%), 4-wine barrels (27%) and 6-wine barrels (35%).
