Our oenologists' opinion

Well-rounded

Woody nose, marked by aromas of mocha and roasted black fruit, with a hint of kirsch.

Supple, round and well-balanced on the palate, revealing a little frankness.

Beautiful envelope, harmony and roundness, with a hint of austerity.

Clean finish with notes of undergrowth, underlining an elegant bouquet.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • BOUCHARD PERE & FILS

Pommard belonged in the 13th century to Alix de Vergy, wife of the Duke of Burgundy Eudes II.

In 1224 and 1240, she donated it to the archbishops of Lyon. Then, Pommard successively became the property of the ducal domain, great families, and religious orders.

With the Revolution, the properties were divided, as was the case across the entire Côte-d'Or vineyard.

The soils and subsoils give Pommard exemplary colour, strength, and aromatic expression. As Victor Hugo wrote, the wines of Pommard have "breath, inspiration, and sometimes genius
