Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

The nose, frank and refined, evokes a palette of sweet spices: white pepper, cumin, then evolves towards roasted nuances of coffee and mocha, offering beautiful aromatic depth.

The attack is supple, marked by a fine fluidity and controlled balance.

The medium-bodied but harmonious wine unfolds with finesse, carried by round, satiny tannins.

The finish is silky and smooth, revealing a delicate strawberry coulis character.

The long, caressing finish prolongs this velvety sensation, leaving an elegant, gourmet imprint on the palate.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • MAISON CHANZY

Extending south from Rully, the Mercurey vineyard lies on marl-limestone soils formed during the Middle and Upper Jurassic, with a predominance of the Middle Jurassic layer.

These stony soils, derived from hard limestone strata, are perfectly suited to the Pinot Noir grape, which here produces highly sought-after red wines, known for their complexity and graceful aging potential.
