Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and crisp

The nose is open, characterised by aromas of citrus and exotic fruits, with a slight hint of the sea and a crisp sensation.

The attack is clean, with a touch of tension.

On the palate, it reveals a character of white fruits, with a harmonious balance and a style without malolactic fermentation, preserving freshness and liveliness.

The finish is crisp and balanced, true to the aromatic profile, with a characteristic, slightly savoury bitterness.

Overall, this is a delicious, dynamic wine, full of freshness.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Domain and appellation

  • CAVE DE TAIN

Founded in 1933 by Louis Gambert de Loche, the Cave de Tain draws on the expertise of nearly 250 winegrowers across some 1,000 hectares of vineyards, producing wines from the Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Cornas and Saint-Péray appellations, as well as local wines.

Terroir: Great diversity of soils: clay-limestone and sandy in the canton of St Donat, alluvial in the canton of Tain, and granitic in the canton of Tournon.

Vinification: 100% destemmed grapes. Traditional fermentation in vats at 28°C. Regular pumping over to gently extract fine tannins and preserve the fruit’s freshness. Long maceration of 20 to 25 days followed by regular tastings to determine the racking date.

Ageing: In stainless steel vats on lees, to preserve the fruit and freshness.
