Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Open, frank and distinctive nose, marked by aromas of cooked pepper, fresh spices, herbs and a hint of liquorice.

The attack is supple, with good balance despite its light body.

The character is expressed with finesse, with notes of candied pepper, fresh red fruit and a hint of lemon, accompanied by a touch of ginger.

The finish is straightforward, with red fruit and spice, a hint of savouriness and a touch of bitterness.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Saumur-Champigny – A True Expression of Terroir

The Saumur-Champigny vineyard spans over 1,300 hectares on the southern banks of the Loire River. The region’s defining feature is its clay-limestone soil, and in particular the soft white rock known as tuffeau, which allows for deep vine rooting and balanced water regulation.

This wine undergoes total destemming and a 10-day maceration, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel vats.

It is bottled directly in tuffeau cellars, where it continues to mature, protected from light and temperature fluctuations. The result is a wine of freshness, structure and elegance, perfectly expressing the character of its Loire terroir.
