Our oenologists' opinion
Powerful bouquet
The nose is open and expressive, revealing notes of plum, redcurrant and fresh blackcurrant, enhanced by a hint of pepper and a touch of menthol.
The attack is supple and straightforward, offering a full-bodied palate of red fruit coulis, with a beautiful texture, tension and lovely finesse.
The character asserts itself with red fruit gratin and notes of incense.
The finish is balanced and persistent, lingering on aromas of liquorice and mocha, bringing depth and elegance to the whole.

Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

The great wines of the Médoc chose early on to select among their crus in order to preserve the qualities of the grand vin, while mitigating the effects of vintage variability and ensuring a consistent level of quality.
Many Médoc estates later adopted this approach from the 1970s onwards. Chasse-Spleen joined the movement as early as 1979, leading to the creation of L’Oratoire de Chasse-Spleen.
The key practice in deciding whether a vineyard parcel is destined for the grand vin or the second wine is the tasting of the grapes.
Indeed, the juice of a grape can vary from one year to the next, while the soil itself remains unchanged. -
