Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

The nose is frank and expressive, opening with notes of spices and candied prunes, evolving towards mocha and a hint of roasting.

On the palate, the attack is supple, marked by roundness and a fleshy texture.

The well-structured finish reveals aromas of bitter cocoa, with good overall balance.

The wine has a frank and distinctive character, lingering on an aromatic, subtly spicy finish.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • CHÂTEAU DE L'ESTAGNOL

The Château de l'Estagnol Estate, named after an old dried-up pond, is located in the Drôme Provençale, in the village of Suze-la-Rousse, overlooked by a medieval fortress.

The estate is surrounded by woodland and stretches over almost 80 hectares of vineyards.

This woodland, an emblematic feature of the estate, is made up mainly of pine trees, century-old oaks, and a few truffle oaks.

It plays a vital role in preserving and enhancing biodiversity around the vineyard plots.
