Powerful bouquet

Brilliant deep garnet colour, nose to be opened then of red fruit coulis, toasted wood, good balance on a full-bodied, warm wine, small frank character of gratinated black fruits, roasted wood, tannins without fat, frank.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

CHÂTEAU DE VILLEGEORGE

Acquired in 1973 by Lucien Lurton, Château De Villegeorge now belongs to his daughter, Marie-Laure. An oenologist, she has been making wine at this estate since 1986.

    Terroir: The 12.32 hectare vineyard is located in the commune of Avensan. The plots are made up of deep gravel.
    Viticulture: The average age of the vines is 25 years, the vineyard is managed in a sustainable way, it will obtain in 2003 the Terra Vitis approval. Since then, each vintage has obtained this approval.
    Vinification: The wine is aged in barrels for 10 to 16 months depending on the vintage. The wine is bottled at the Château.
