Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

A dark, clear and brilliant wine with a deep garnet colour.

The nose is bold and distinctive, marked by fresh pepper and morello cherry, before opening up to notes of candied red fruits.

The attack is supple, carried by a lovely roundness and harmonious balance.

The palate develops with a clean, indulgent finish, featuring hints of spice and fresh blackcurrant, revealing a character centred on crisp red fruits.

The finish is supported by a lovely richness, prolonging the aromas with freshness and intensity.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • DOMAINE ROY

Hailing from a family of winegrowers whose roots date back to the Empire era, the estate was founded in 1920 by Fernand Roy on the right bank of the Serein, north of Chablis.

Today, the vineyard covers 18 hectares and is run by the third and fourth generations, with Claude Roy, alongside David and Karine, carrying on the family’s expertise.
