Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Do you know ?
An orientation table overlooks the Les Macles plots: this table was donated to the village by the Berthenet siblings.
The Domaine Berthenet, in Montagny, carries on a family winemaking tradition dating back four centuries. Taken over by Jean-Pierre and then François, it cultivates 20 hectares, mainly planted with Chardonnay.

DOMAINE BERTHENET
The Les Macles vineyard at Domaine Berthenet is situated on a south-east-facing hillside at an altitude of around 420 metres, with a gradient of over 40 per cent, which is ideal for ensuring the Chardonnay grapes reach full ripeness.
The vines are 30 years old on average. The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, followed by gentle pressing and 24 hours of settling at a low temperature in vats.
Fermentation and ageing on fine lees take place partly in stainless steel vats to preserve maximum freshness, whilst the remainder is vinified and aged in demi-muids to impart richness, body and complexity to the cuvée.
