Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

The nose is open, frank and typical, with aromas of plum, candied pepper and pomegranate.

The attack is greedy and fleshy, with long, fat tannins offering good balance.

The character develops around red fruit au gratin and cocoa.

The finish is satiny, with a hint of cocoa, a light envelope and a little sweetness, followed by medium persistence.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • CHÂTEAU FERRANDE

Located in the commune of Castres-sur-Gironde, Château Ferrande spans 95 hectares.

    • With a planting density of 7,000 vines per hectare, exceeding the appellation’s minimum, the estate clearly shows its commitment to quality.

    • Its Graves Günzian terroir earned it a place in the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux.

Clay subsoils provide the wines with a natural freshness.

Nature and biodiversity are also key, with 23 hectares preserved, including a majestic cedar-lined alley and a beautiful park filled with varied tree species.
