Domain and appellation

  • Woodford

Built in 1812 by Elijah Pepper, the Woodford Reserve is the oldest distillery in the United States. It is officially recognized as a historical monument. The distillery Woodford Reserve is located in Woodford County, Kentucky, known as the "country" of bourbon. The Woodford Reserve Double Oaked is made from corn (72% exclusively from the Kentucky region), malted barley (18%) and rye (10%). This bourbon is aged with a dual maturation: It undergoes a first go in toasted white oak barrels, so more juice comes out of the wood. Then, a second go in new oak barrels, for a more intense flavor which gives it even more character.
