Our oenologists' opinion
Fruity and crisp
A powerful and charming nose dominated by plants and more particularly by juniper is to discover with this tempered gin. Demonstrating a great purity, the attack is full-bodied. To go through the wide range of floral, fruity, vegetal and spiced aromas is absolutely impossible. It is followed by a frank and straight finish that enters this gin into an unrivalled position.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Do you know ?
Gin was invented by the Dutch in the twelfth century, before being introduced in England in the seventeenth century, a period during which the high cost of beer brought the population to turn to gin.
Domain and appellation
The Botanist is an artisanal gin elaborated by the distillery of Bruichladdich, on the Isle of Islay. It distinguishes from the other gins by the using of 31 aromatic ingredients in its composition, against 6 to 12 in a classic gin. These 31 ingredients contains a mix of 22 plants (berries, petals and leaves) coming from the Isle of Islay.
- Manufacturing: These plants, gathered and picked by hand, are subjected to a slow and artisanal distillation lasting for 17 hours, with low pressure and the other 9 ingredients.
Its unique bottle is marked by the Latin names of the plants used to its conception.
