Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and crisp

Clear transparent colour, open and very typical juniper nose, fresh spicy notes, good attack then full-bodied, quite heady, great character, without envelope or sweetness but frank and straight.

  • Keeping level Ready to drink

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • The Botanist

The Botanist is an artisanal gin developed by the distillery of Bruichladdich, on the Isle of Islay. It is distinguished from other gins through its use of 31 aromatic ingredients in its composition, as opposed to 6 to 12 in a classic gin. These 31 ingredients contain a mix of 22 plants (berries, petals and leaves) from the Isle of Islay.

    • Manufacturing: These plants, gathered and picked by hand, are subjected to a slow and artisanal distillation lasting for 17 hours, a low pressure with the other 9 ingredients.

Its unique bottle is marked by the Latin names of the plants used to its conception.
