L'avis de nos oenologues

Powerful bouquet

Copper colour with orange highlights. Open nose with notes of toasted wood, vanilla and grey pepper, a hint of dried apricot and menthol. Round, greedy attack, with melted alcohol, followed by notes of milk chocolate, vanilla, roasted wood, bitter orange and sultanas. Persistent finish of light tobacco, vanilla and roasted wood, with a hint of sapid bitterness.

Caractéristiques

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Le domaine et l'appellation

  • Château de Laubade

Founded in 1870, the first owner of the Château de Laubade was Joseph Noulens, former french Ambassador in Saint Petersbourg and Minister of War, Finances and Agriculture in the government of Georges Clémenceau. Today, the estate belongs to the Lesgourgues family, who haved owned it since 1974. The  Château de Laubade is one of the few properties to cultivate, on a 105 hectare estate, the 4 traditional grape varieties of the appellation: Ugni Blanc, Baco, Colombard and Folle Blanche.
